The 5.5G iPod does, so I assumed the 2G nano would as well. Just got a new one (for my mom), and plugged it in to charge, but the screen doesn't light up. Maybe it doesn't when it's charging, or maybe the nano won't charge from Firewire?

Does anyone know? Thanks!

You know, now that I think about it, I bet it's not showing a charging indicator because it's off (maybe?) I forgot that normally the iPod is really just asleep.

Can anyone clarify if a Firewire charger will charge (and is safe to use with) a 2G nano?

EDIT: Yeah, I turned it on and the cute little lighting bolt shows up. It's charging :)

It blows my mind that Apple's original connection (aside from the regular Firewire port on the first two) has survived the transition from Firewire to USB, was around prior to video, and now has a PHONE on it. THAT'S good engineering!

Thanks! I hope she can figure out how to use it. She has a bit of trouble with Tivo, so... :p
