What the title says, really. I’m hoping to upgrade my Air 4 to the new 13” Air, but wondering if the blurry screen I get scrolling web pages due to the lack of ProMotion on my Air 4, is going to be more noticeable on a larger 13” screen.

I’m guessing the Media Engine will be more powerful than my Air 4, but obviously it’ll have more work to do with the extra pixels.

Apologies if this is a daft, or obvious question, but reviews of the Air 13” seem a bit thin on the ground at the moment….

Cheers 🙂

Typically the smaller the device the less noticeable ProMotion would be for the simple fact you don’t have a large area to scroll.

Response time of the display AND the refresh rate play a mutual part. I would gladly take an OLED with no ProMotion vs an LCD/miniLED panel with ProMotion.

My suggestion would be an older M1 iPad Pro 11” if it fits your budget. It doesn’t have the questionable miniLED panel but still has ProMotion and should be a similar price to a new Air 13”.

Thanks for the reply! I’m really after the bigger screen - for more space for music app jams, plus to use the iPad as a reference monitor when painting.

I thought this might be the case, maybe I’ll check out some older 13” pro’s before making a decision.

Absolutely, at least on a touch first device. I dont miss promotion on my iPhones or my macs (have devices both with and without and just as happy on the ones without). But I stopped a Best Buy to try the air 13 thinking I could save 400 bucks from the m4 pro I picked up already and I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Honestly i even liked the form factor of the air a little more; the edges of the ‘thinalicious” pro or whatever they’re calling it are kind of sharp in hand. But the 60hz was just -intolerable-.

Thanks. Yeah, sounds concerning.

The reason I’m asking for feedback on here as the nearest store that sells them is a two-hour drive away (I live in the middle of nowhere), so can’t try them out first (though I guess I could use Apple’s return policy). Think I need to make the effort though.
