Does a perfect 24 inch imac screen exist?

Hi - I'm on my second 24 inch imac - Sent the first one back because it had back light bleed and a graphics issue - The second one is great apart from when i watch a movie in a dimly lit room and it shows a dark scene I can see little spots of bleed around the screen - does anyone else have this ? is it actually possible to get a perfect 24 inch screen with no bleed? when i say bleed i mean no bleed in a dark room with a black screen showing? cheers for reply s - i have 7 days to make my call to apple.

Also do you think it is worth getting my money back and waiting for an update? Any ideas what that update would be. New screen without all these issues? much more power?

If anyone could post photos of their '"perfect" imac 24 with a black screen saver in a dark room i would be really grateful because i really dont know what to do. I will try to get one of my screen tonight. Thanks
 
I would be surprised if you can find such a beast especially at the price point of the 24" iMac.

All the LCD monitors I've ever seen have had some back light bleed. Some are definitely worse than others, but they've all had a least a little when viewed with a black screen in a dark room.

I agree all lcds have bleed - but do you think that bleed should be uniform all the way around. On the imac it has the usually lcd uniform bleed but then it has spots of excessive bleed.
 
Mine - which was bought the first week of release - was great. I used to watch plenty of movies in a dark room and it look very nice. Not sure it was "perfect", but it was in the neighborhood.
 
As long as humans continue to design and implement ideas we will never have a perfect ANYTHING. It's human nature to be flawed and produce flawed items (as much as we'd prefer not to).
 
Thats great but im not saying its got to be perfect but if you have something that is near perfect then showw me a photo because i dont want to be given a duff deal by apple - they shouldnt get away with it.
 
Please post some photos people. 24 inch imac with black screen saver in a dark room - I need to see if this screen i have is duff. Only have until saturday to phone apple for replacement!!

I have never seen uniform bleed and I look at about 20 different monitors a day all with black wallpaper. If you want a monitor with no bleed (very little bleed actually as they all have bleed) you will be paying dearly for it, as in the several thousand dollar range. Mostly only graphics designers and pro photography studios have these types of monitors.
 
Mine has a perfect screen :) It only seems like a widespread problem because people dont post topics saying "Yayz my iMac is perfect!!!1!!" Only the people with stuff to moan about post the topics.

Its hard to understand what I just wrote haha...

And everybody's idea of "perfect" is different. What is perfect for one person is unacceptable to another. I think my iMac screen is perfect, but it does have a little bleed.

WOW 22 swaps? Did they say anything or look at you like you were crazy? :eek:

Maybe a roll of the eyes and, "not this guy again".

Back to topic though..., I don't think there exist a perfect 24" screen period, nevermind if its an imac. Now some screens do have more problems than others though. The panel the 24" imac uses is the same one used in the $1200 dollar 24" NEC. The NEC does have some added features that increase the price of course, but my point is that the imac uses a very nice panel. The way the backlight was implemented probably could have been a lot better though.

Usually the bigger the screen the more probable to have a defect. I don't know why, but its seems like that for any monitor I have that is around that size. As you go smaller, it seems less of an issue.
 
I had to swap my new 24'' twice before getting one good. Dead/stuck pixels and very dirty glass on the inside were the issues on the first 2 ones. The third one looks good so far.
