Hi all,

I am trying to find an app to help me at work. Myy job is comprised of projects comprised of subtaks that need to be completed to consider something "complete." These sets of tasks are always the same, but who I am completing them for changes.

I am wondering if there is an app that will allow me to easily create "to-do templates" where I can activate a template for a certain task to be completed. I want to be able check-off the subtasks and then archive the task as a whole when it is complete. My ideal app might have a "shelf" that contains the to-do template for "x" task, "y" task, etc. I might be able to activate a template, edit the title to reflect who I am completing the project for and add a due-date, etc. and then have that appear in an "active tasks" view or similar.

Apps like Things or Todoist don't seem to offer this functionality. Those are more geared towards managing projects that usually differ in their scope and tasks required, or are meant for one-off to-dos that pop up irregularly.

I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if I can clarify and please do share any applications that you think might fit the bill.

Thanks.

I’d say look into OneNote. I remember create a To Do template in a notebook for higher education. Then I could copy the template out into another notebook. However it’s been well over 1.5 years since I’ve had OneNote installed.

I think I understand what you’re asking for. You want subtask completion to display the percentage of completion in the primary/parent task. It’s the kind of thing that MS Project does well, but that’s likely overkill for your needs.

What about creating an Excel workbook with tabs for each primary task and subtasks? You could create a formula to calculate the percent of completion of the subtasks.

While tracking completion is useful, my main focus is to find an app designed around setting up templates of standardize tasks over and over again.
