Dear Sir / Madam,

A Windows computer has the functionality of finding a file within a subdirectory tree.

Does a OXS computer have the same functionality, and if so, where do I find it?

I have had an OSX computer for about a year, so I am a novice.

Also, is there software that can bulk rename files?

Yours sincerely,

Harry.

Expanding on that, you can access Spotlight either by clicking on the magnifying glass icon at the right-hand side of the menu bar, or by typing into the search box in a Finder window.

When I need to bulk rename I use the mv command in the Terminal, but that's not for the faint of heart!

Yosemite has batch rename built-in. Just select multiple files and right click, you'll see "Rename X files..."
