yea android device manager is built into the OS, dont remember when it was implemented 4.3 or something maybe? First it was a separate app, now integrated

There is a free app called CM Security which has that feature.

Not needed with Android Device Manager, just another thing to clutter up the device if you do install it.

Kill switch was supposed to of been embedded into 5.0 but it is being released with 5.1 now.

I saw that in one of the reviews of the update. One catch, it's not on any of the devices yet and MAY only be on devices that ship with 5.1. This is somewhat unrelated as Android Device Manager has been able to lock the device and ring an alert as well as display a message on the screen.

People automatically make the association of activation with find my phone which is why I made it a point to mention it as ADM and KS are two different functions.

And more impotently, shows the location on the map.

yea from what I understand KS will only work on devices shipped with 5.1

curious if it is secure if your devices bootloader is unlocked, I would imagine not
