I know some people are fine with Apple's double pixel method for some iPhone apps on the iPad. Honestly, I can't stand using an app that way since they just weren't crisp or sharp, they're blurry and don't look all that good. I don't actually use iPhone apps on my iPad (even though I keep a lot of them on my iPad) because the double pixel method sucks. Apple could have added an option to have games render at a higher resolution and/or add anti-aliasing instead.

I use iphone games on my iPad since I
do not have good enough vision to tell that it is not super crisp it
seems the same to me.

I originally told myself that I wouldn't re-buy any app just for the iPad, I knew it wouldn't be perfect, but just good enough. Then the iPad came out, I loaded all of my iPhone apps to the my iPad, played 30 seconds of plants vs zombies, then I quickly realized that it looked horrible doubling the pixels, and and playing them native size looked odd, so I deleted all of the iPhone specific apps and re-bought them just for the iPad.

The doubling pixels just looks like crap. They kind of used that function just as a formality really, if they didn't everyone would say "Well I can't I just use my iPhone apps and have more pixels to accommodate the iPad screen." They know the iPhone apps look like crap too.

The iPad App Store still has a way to go, so by allowing the iPhone apps to run on the iPad by its original native size or x2, Apple can continue to advertise the app stores huge progress from its competitors of over 200,000 apps available today for their 3 mobile i devices.

But also, for some people, the doubling of the pixels is a non issue.

I have opted to use an app normal size on the iPad rather than doubled as the majority of the time the pixellation can be a bit off putting.

Yeah I think we all agree that ipad games are for ipad and iphone games are for iphone. Im not buying a £500 device for pixellated graphics lol.

The only reason you can use iPhone apps doubled on the iPad is so that Apple could claim there were a zillion apps for it already.

. Pixel doubling is exactly like what Apple did when they switched to intel and put in Rosetta which allowed a smooth transition for Apps to run on intels until they become universal. It is what anyone with half a brain would do.

Not really bothersome. I only play the iPhone games that look okay, doubled, on the iPad. If not then, if I really like the game, play it on my iPhone's smaller screen. I try to stick with either iPad or universal apps (games included ) for my iPad.

Pixel doubling isn't really that big a deal...

What irritates me about some of my games is that they don't offer auto-rotate, with the end result that using the apps with my case propping the iPad up has the games upside down. I end up having to lay the case out flat and using it that way, which is irritating when I'm lying down in bed or trying to avoid a light reflection.

Honestly, that bugs the **** out of me much more than pixel doubling. I need to start asking the devs to offer that as an option (though IMO they should *always* do that, regardless... but maybe that's just me.)

.

I use angry birds 2x because i refuse to pay that developer an extra $4 just for native resolution.
