thanks for the pics. do particles get caught between the edge of the screen protector and the front plate? that's what i've seen in online reviews. how easy is it to remove and put back on?

I've never experienced that; I would think that it would be impossible for anything to get under the screen protector. I only have dust under the corner of mine from when I placed it on the first time, it wasn't clean. I haven't tried to remove it because I always have a bad experience when removing the screen protector from my devices, as it never goes back on. As long as it is clean when you apply it, you should not have a problem.

I don't care about using a case because frankly.. I don't care if the back gets scratched.. thats not that part of the iPod that I look at. Also the front doesn't get scratched by my keys or anything so I could throw my keys in my pocket. How do I know it doesn't get scratched, because I literally tried to scratch the screen with my keys and nothing. I also put pressure on the back and tried to bend it and it didn't break. I definitely wont try it anymore. lol :).

I just use 99p screen and back protectors, they're easily replaceable when they get scuffed up, and cheap too: you can buy them in loads from eBay.

for those looking for a minimalistic case, check out the cozip

it's a one-side-only hard cover made of polycarbonate, adds approx. 1mm to the thickness of the 'pod, and has an improved grip external surface. also, you can use it either as a screen cover, or as a back cover (it snaps in place ether way).

my wife uses one with her ipod as a permanent back cover, and together with a film protector on the screen it's the slimmest protective setup you could get (she's absolutely reluctant to go with bulky cases). i, for one, am looking for some more ruggedized case, otherwise i'd have gotten a cozip for myself too.

hmm, that looks like an interesting option, especially since all i'd really need to protect is the back.

Outstanding Case

I must say, I'm surprised how many people don't have some sort of case. Spending $400 on a beautiful device like the Touch and not protecting it seems strange. I first bought the protective film from Apple store, that goes on the screen and back of the Touch. Worth the $15 to me!! I ordered a handmade leather case from a company in Argentina called Vaja http://www.vaja.com. These cases are not cheap. Mine was $85 shipped to Arizona and took about 4 weeks to get. It makes the device a bit thicker but not ridiculously bulky. It has a flip cover and allows for use of headsets with the cover closed. The touch fits very snugly in the case and will not fall out. I don't use a cradle to charge but still have to lift the flip cover up to insert sync/charge cable. A small inconvenience to deal with. I travel extensively so need to protect my devices the best way I can. Vaja cases do the trick. There are dozens of colors to chose from and since they are handmade everyone is unique. The craftsmanship is second to none. I have used this company before and they provide excellent products and service. I have a Vaja case for my Treo phone also. .The look and smell of leather is classic, you will not be disappointed:D:D:D:eek::eek:

I only buy a case to protect the plastic screens of iPods but cause the touch has a glass screen, I don't need a case. I don't care about the back, just the front (that sounded sexual).

yeah, the thing is, i probably won't be selling it either... so i don't care about the back. hm.
