Does anyone else feel like the Music and Video apps need a redesign?

I just started using the Music and Video apps (now called TV) again recently after getting an iPad. My god the interface is awful. I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out where things were, and I still had to Google to find out where my music videos were. does it look bad necessarily, it just is failing at most of the aspects that are required for a good interface. The design is not consistent between apps or even between tabs, and it's neither logical or intuitive where things are placed.

I miss the old design

The Music app, I'll admit, looks a little plain. It's white all over, although the Apple Music interface actually looks neat. It's just a little too boring on screens such as Now Playing.
As for the Videos app... Never used it, will never use it (TV isn't available in my region).

I miss the old design

I miss the simplicity of the old iPod interface-- it worked the way I thought: artist:album:song.

Some of the disconnect for me might be because the newer apps are aimed more toward cloud based storage and online purchases while I use them almost exclusively for my personal library, but even the cloud stuff is unmanageable.

And iTunes on the Mac needs to be rewritten from the ground up.

Keep combating with apple on software update scandal recently, just to make sure I could batch edit multiple items, such as multiple albums.

No. GODS no. HELL no.

iTunes may have its flaws, but knowing Apple's recent design fails, especially in the iOS music app, I can't think of anything good coming out of an iTunes redesign.

I just don't trust them to do it right.

iTunes works great right now, despite its flaws. Leave it be. Please.

If you don't trust Apple to be able to create new things, it's time to change platforms. For those of do, iTunes is an embarrassment.

The iOS music app isn't much better, but iTunes is the single worst piece of Apple software on my Mac and it's supposed to be their crown jewel. Too many bugs, error messages that mean nothing or can't be read, unbelievably inconsistent UI, and no specialization-- it tries to be the interface to too many things and fails at it's most basic tasks such as syncing my music to my phone in one easy go.

And don't even get me started on "compilations".

It looks to me like, because iTunes got everyone's attention during the rise of the iPod, Apple tried to weaponize it as a marketing tool. That probably made sense at the time but then they sort of fetishized it. Remember how the goal for a while was to make Xcode more like iTunes? Now there's just so many incoherent requirements on it that it no longer serves its two most basic purposes: play my music and sync to my iOS devices.

Burn it to the ground and start over.

No, I cannot risk using unpolished software to break my workflow. I have managed to disable most software update features and revert iTunes back to an old version without disabling SIP. I could only hope this version (12.5.4) run pretty well and never get updated. I am now much more scared of all those "broken" updates than before.

I have no hopes anymore, Apple has been sitting on this for too long and they have redesigned the music app twice within a couple of years. On iOS you can access your music library through a bunch of third-party apps, such as Cesium. I cannot recommend them enough.

For streaming, I made the definite switch to Spotify. I am not waiting for Apple anymore.

I second the Cesium recommendation. It's fantastic and miles better than the ios music app which is complete garbage now.
