I will be buying a 70-200 2.8 so I will be needing a monopod, I have looked at the Manfrotto 680b, but I think it might be to short I am 6'2", I also have looked at the 681b, but that one is a little to long folded up. Does anyone have any other recommendations? I am trying to go no more than $60.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm also 6'2" and i have the 681b, i find it perfect, just strape it to my backpack, looks long, it's not really that long, not too heavy either, i love it for travel :)

I think if it extends up to 5'0", that's all you'd need. If you add the height of a head (if you choose to buy one), and the height of the camera itself, the viewfinder will definitely be at your eye level. Also, you probably won't stand straight up with your monopod. You may stand a bit slanted to put some weight on it, although it's true that your tripod will also be diagonal when you use it so that it's stable.

You don't need the monopod to bring the camera up above your head though.

Here's a photo someone took of me last weekend. As you can see, my height had little to do with the best height from which to take photographs. I think my monopod extends to 66" or so.

I use a Manfrotto 679b with my 70-200 2.8 and have been very happy with it. It is light, compact and less than $60. It extends to about 62 in. I am 5'10" and never have it fully extended.

I have a Manfrotto monopod and it is great. Well built and sturdy. Can't remember the model number off hand though.

Although I generally use the 70-200 2.8 handheld anyway.

Manfrotto monopod

Have a Manfrotto 694 magfiber monopod for use with 100-400mm/f4.5-5.6 Canon lens; very light and worked well for my recent month in Africa. I'm
6' tall and I don't use the 'pod at full length with my camera. Very happy with it. Cost was ~$170, well worth it.
