...and if they've had success with making it work?

I'll be frank. The Mac App store continues to entice me and surprise me. I'm a huge Steam user, but the slow growth of Steamplay enabled titles so far is both disappointing and frustrating.

That said I'm getting tired of waiting and I'd love to expand my gaming library on the Mac side with some titles from the MAS, but one of the things that I love about gaming via Windows is being able to play in surround sound.

Most of the users I've read on various forums seem to be connecting their equipment via TOSlink, but I've since done away with compressed audio and I've been using HDMI audio for several months now (via MDP adapter). I love it as I get nice, clean, uncompressed sound and don't have to rely on other licensed technologies such as Dolby Digital Live! burdening the CPU. So far it works great on Windows for the most part, with only a small handful of older titles giving me issues.

So has anyone here have experience with surround sound on Mac games via MAS? I've googled Call of Duty 4: MW for the Mac and it says that it supports surround sound. Can anyone that has CoD4 from MAS with a multi-channel audio setup confirm this? I'd really love to know some user experiences :)

Here is a good thread on the subject. I know Borderlands has full surround sound in game, new games from Feral will support surround where possible.

Thanks a lot. I actually found that article last night and added it to my reading list, but was just too sleepy to read it all, but thanks for bringing it back to my attention nonetheless :)

That's actually pretty hopeful news, even if only a handful of titles are supporting multi-channel audio.
