Does anyone know what these logos are called?

I have been seeing tons of them around lately (logos with the x in the center and smaller logos contained around it) and was wondering if there is a name/genre of this type of logo or if it has any particular significance.

The best description of this style that I've seen is "hipster logo" and it's made fun of for the most part. Google "hipster logo" and you'll get the results you're after.

According to the 2013 trend report, the style of logo you're looking for is called "Line Craft" or possibly "Badge."

But as the poster above said, "Hipster" is also a valid description.

Looks like the old old railroad logos. I used to see signs like this when I was younger around run down railroad tracks.

It follows on from the medieval coat of arms, in that it has iconic symbols arranged in a quartered design. Nothing new under the sun.

I have a roughly similar type of logo on my squadron t-shirt from the military in 1989.

I think that in the 1980's, all we had were yuppies.

It's meant to look like a wax seal. They want it to look old-time-y. Ye Olde Wax Seal.

I suppose I have some sort of Hipster Logo, because it is roughly round. Darn!

(For the curious, my company is called Watusiware Corporation. The logo depicts an Ankole-Watusi cattle performing the Watusi, the second most popular fad dance in U.S. history, after The Twist.)
