Since upgrading to Yosemite yesterday, I notice a new menu item appearing on an irregular basis (and disappearing after a few seconds).
Does anyone know what it is ? (I have iStat Menus installed, but it does not seem to be related).

Thanks!

That icon is also used when scripts (Automator stuff for instance) are running.

A look at your activity monitor might shed some light. Also cmd/option + clicking on the item may give you some info.

Thanks for the answers. Nothing happens when I Cmd+Click on the icon. I tried to see in the Activity Monitor view what the process is, but I could not notice any significant change in CPU usage when the icon appears. The search continues...

Some further tips on identifying this here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/ques...-from-mac-os-x-menubar-when-cmddrag-wont-work

Quitting processes or apps until it disappears (just be careful what you quit), will identify it.. just could be a slow and boring process :)

Thanks again for the advice. I got it: it is linked to a small app named Time Machine Backup Scheduler, which I was using to do backups according to a customised schedule. The app has now gone to the Trash - no more annoying MenuBar item!
