Yes and I find NFS Shift to be the better game. It controls better and looks that tiny bit better. Both are great though, even though NFS is $5 more - I'd still recommend it over Real Racing HD.

^ Unfortunately yes. Neither are universal apps.

I wish to god they would at least offer 'upgrade' pricing to existing customers. It's starting to get really expensive.

Thanks for the heads up. Was thinking of buying NFS Shift for iPhone but now I'll hold off till the iPad version at the end of the month (UK purchase).

I liked Need for Speed Undercover on the iPhone, and it's only like $4.99. Unfortunately it's not a universal app.

It's not about which is better! Because all 3 racing games that are out are different experiences.

Need for Speed: is like any need for speed game, half arcade/sim
Real Racing is a Gran Turismo type of clone.
Asphalt 5 HD is a Burnout 3 type of clone.

Every game is good at what it is.
I like taking down cars and drive on the wrong side of the road with on coming cars so I'm a Asphalt 5 HD type of guy.

Another thing to add is the price NFS Shift is 15 bucks! For 17 bucks you can buy Real Racing and Asphalt Racing.

There's lite versions of Real Racing and Asphalt HD 5 for iPhone try them out, that's how i decided, at first I really wanted Real Racing because of the car renders and graphics, once I played it , I noticed that I was never good at Gran Turismo games, then I tested Asphalt 5 HD and remembered Burnout 3 immediately and how much I enjoyed the sensed of that kind of speed and hitting cars.

Apples and oranges. Own both. Shift is more fun and has better graphics. The best graphics for any iPad racing game currently. Real Racing, though less fun, takes more skill to master and control. Your taste may vary. I recommend both but start with Shift first.
