Last night I was at a social event where we were talking about the history of Apple.
I had raised two points regarding Apple and the internet, and both I've had mental blocks for the correct names and can't find anything about them on the web.
Around 1992, when the internet was just getting going, I signed up for an Apple-based AOL type service. For the life of me I can't remember what it's name was. Something like 'Planet Apple', 'Apple World', 'Hometown' or something like that. I remember it as being graphically set up to look like a town or community with buildings and streets for the unique destinations. If I recall correctly, there was an interface that looked like a planet or urban landscape. It was actually supposed to run, look and act like the www to compete with AOL, but I think was just shelved when it became apparent what the www was actually becoming. It only was up and running for about a year and a half. Any clue as to what that Apple service was and if there's any legacy info about it?
And the other name I can't remember was the original wysiwyg software package that Apple released about the same time. I think it went through 3 versions and was either sold to Macromedia or just shelved too.
