Depending on how bad the economy gets due to COVID-19, I am wondering if I should wait on the 2020 iPad Pros in hopes there will be a price drop. I have an older iPad Pro and I would like to get the new Pencil and hopefully use Sidecar for drawing.

Even in normal economic times, there were price drops on the 2018 iPad pros so it stands to reason the same pattern will happen for the 2020 models. I guess it depends on how long you are willing to wait. Perhaps this will happen a little sooner if the economy gets really bad but Apple will probably also cut production in that case.

Well, technically the LTE version already has a price drop. Last model 256GB LTE iPad Pro 11" was $1099. This year it's $1049. Not a huge drop, but a drop none the less.

I doubt we'll see more than a $50-100 drop anytime soon.

This one's more to do with restructuring storage tiers and pricing. LTE is still $150 more than Wi-Fi.

128GB$799 / $949

(price drop to $1349 / $1499 in 2019)
$1299 / $1449

That said, I expect we'll be seeing quick discounts on these from retailers.

It’s anybody’s guess but I think you’ll potentially have to wait a little bit and then check your local electronics shops to see if it happens.

The chart you created made me wonder if Apple only did a minor update to keep the price down. I recall a huge pushback over iPad Pro prices when they first came out. $1699 for an iPad is expensive even by Apple standards.

I think it’ll be a while before we see a price cut at all on these as someone else stated production will be cut down before they cut the price. If you’re looking for a cheaper iPad Pro I would definitely tell you to buy the 2018 they’ve got really nice pricings out there all over the Internet

Yeah, the price was already dropped by Apple, and I predict 3rd party retailers will have some sales in a couple of months too.

However, I also predict that fall/winter will see an update to the cellular models with 5G and A14X, at either the same price or perhaps $50 higher.

I picked up an open box deal at Bestbuy.com. 12.9” 256 GB Wi-Fi/LTE (Space Gray) for $1,062.

I have trouble understanding this rumor. Apple will release a more significant ipad pro update, but
only for cellular equipped ipads. So what happens in 2021--a re-release of the same model but
without celluar?

If Apple does release an update, it‘s likely that the w-fil only model will share the exact same features, but the cellular version will come equipped with 5G.

3rd party shops will likely has some discounts. iPads are selling very well though even in these times, as people need them for working from home, school, etc.

Apple sells a variety of iPads of various price points. If someone can’t afford the iPad Pro, he can always pick up a cheaper iPad. I don’t see a need for Apple to slash their prices.
