Does anyone use Zotero with an M1 Mac? How does it work?

I am planning to buy the M1 13" MBP with 16 GB Ram and a 512GB SSD and I use Zotero (https://www.zotero.org) a lot. (I presume Zotero is still running with Rosetta 2, but I don't really know.)

I am interested to hear from people who have an M1 and use Zotero regularly to know if it works well for them... Thanks a lot!

It should be fine even though it isn't ported to the M1 yet. It doesn't look like it is a CPU intense application. I see a few reports of problems on M1 Macs with Microsoft Office but their support forum seems on top of it.

Edit: I'm not a Zotero user so take with a grain of salt.

I use it... I don't have an issue with it. It runs fine via Rosetta. I also sync between M1 and non M1 macs...

BTW, Is the M1 Mac Laptop more like an iPad or more like a laptop in terms of leaving it on in sleep mode. With an iPad I never ever "turn it off", but with my MacOS laptops I almost always turn them off if I am not going to use it for a while. Should I turn off the M1 MBP or just close the lid and leave it in sleep mode?

It varies but when the M1 MacBooks use battery during sleep it is probably a bug and it is likely something Apple will eventually fix. I've had pretty good luck early on but I haven't really left my M1 MBA off the charger recently.

Zotero works just fine for me on M1 Mini. Not a single problem since November.

No, it's not a bug. Mac OS has background services that run continuously even during sleep; there are far fewer of them but while the machine is sleeping it's still doing something — that's how, among other things, it's able to recognize that the lid is being opened. The M1's efficiency cores are delegated these tasks for longer battery life.

Well I don't usually see any real hit on battery while sleeping. Everyone has different usage patterns. I've gone multiple days where I don't plug in the M1 MacBook Air and see about a 1% drop overnight but others are seeing 10-15%. Not sure what is different which is why it seems like a bug to me. YMMV.
