My wife was typing in her blog last night and our 2015 iMac 4K(Sierra Beta 2) crashed 3 times giving the message "Your computer was restarted because of a problem." Along with the following report:

Also, the process "ocspd" is using upwards of 93% of CPU. What is this?

Thanks for any help!

In Terminal, be prepared to enter your admin password then run the following command:

sudo nvram boot-args="-v keepsyms=y"

Then restart the Mac.

Whilst keepsyms=y is in NVRAM, any kernel panic should present something more human-readable in the backtrace.

Thanks, I'll give it a whirl!
May I ask: What is your background with this code? Did you go to school/work in the field?

Be careful when altering the boot-args in that way, in case you have other arguments that you need. This could be the case if you are using the CAT tool, or other hacks and customizations.

I'd also caution people to not enter or alter commands in terminal until they have a full understand of what those commands do and the consequences. Just don't run it, because another member posts it. I'm not saying that grahamperrin posted anything bad, if you don't know what its going to do to your system, then hold off and do more research.

In this case changing the boot args won't give anything different than the log that the OP has posted. In most cases this is an unnecessary step unless the computer is panicking but not writing a log.

I'm relatively lazy with cautions about nvram(8) because there's a long history of many people knowing how to zap the PRAM and (with more recent Macs) reset NVRAM.

the CAT tool

What's that?

In this case changing the boot args won't give anything different than the log that the OP has posted. …

Reconsider that backtrace:

These point to your panic being something related to the Intel graphics in the computer. Given that it's a beta, it could be a bug in the operating system, but it could also be a hardware problem. Do you have a disk that has a non-beta version of OS X on it? It'd be a useful test to see if the problem happens in El Capitan.

Spin locks mean one thread is blocked from making progress while another thread has the lock to the entity. A timeout causing a kernel panic is a serious issue. Apple needs to root cause. That it is reproducible means it's high severity.

It will replace whatever his current boot-arg with the one in the command. Normally, it is blank. There are some, that might be running something different than normal, and could have something in their boot-arg.

For example, mine is:

boot-args kext-dev-mode=1

Address - symbol translation may make any backtrace more immediately useful to engineering at Apple; or may ease the processing of a BR prior to presentation to engineering.

Without symbols, recognising the (named) KEXTs can sometimes give a misleading idea of the root cause(s) of a panic.
