Does Apple do RAM upgrades upon request? Or is it cheaper to upgrade your own ram?

I'm thinking about upgrading my ram when I get my new blackbook. I understand that the maximum ram is only 2 gigs, which is fine by me. Is it cheaper to purchase your own ram from a third party software company or can you do it through apple, cheaper?

From what I've seen it's cheaper to buy your own RAM and install it yourself.

It is much cheaper to buy and fit your own, it is very easy in a Macbook.

Crucial and OWC are good places to buy it from.
