I have lots of albums in my Apple Music Library (some matched by Apple Music and most added directly from Apple Music to my library.
If any of those albums are shown in Apple Music (not my library) as being available as Lossless or Dolby Atmos and I select to play the album from my Library (not first looking for the album's listing in Apple Music), will it be streamed (I have not downloaded any tracks to my iMac) in the format that was available when I added it to my library or in the "upgraded" format of either Lossless or Dolby Atmos. I have Dolby Atmos set to Automatic and Lossless selected for Download and Streaming in the Music App preferences.

I found that any song that was "matched" in apple music played back in lossless as long as the track wasn't downloaded (unless downloaded in lossless). Any song that was "uploaded" played back as AAC. I spent about two weeks searching Apple music for my uploaded tracks and replacing them with Apple music tracks. Some of my tracks were uploaded simply because the Apple music track had remastered in the title. Or artists which were featured on a track, were listed as artist & artist... I eventually got my uploaded count down from 3200 to about 400.

Maybe I wasn’t clear. I am referring to tracks and albums that I just added from Apple Music. Not stuff that I had in iTunes and then “matched” by Apple Music.

Yip. I misunderstood your query. From my own experience, any song that is in the Apple music library will play in lossles / Atmos (if available) even if it was added before lossless was available.

Hope we are on the same page now ;)

Yep. Any song added from Apple Music that has a lossless version will make it available to you as long as you have lossless turned on in Settings.
