hi !! i wanted to know if i were to purchase the mbp from the apple online store in us and give the shipping address in india .. is it possible ? will apple ship it without any extra fee?

Sorry, they only ship to US addresses. Surely there is an Apple store that you can order from in your are though.

The best bet for you is to find an apple authorised retailer around your location...As far as India goes, i think they have new stores opening up in Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and other major cities, so if you live in a major city just look up your store's address from www.apple.co.in or give them a call(Updated more often) and they will guide you!
oh yes and one of the major retailers in India is Imagine!....pretty much all of their stores sell apple products... so check it out and good luck with your apple purchase!

It's not an apple store, but its an authorised apple distributor which is essentially same as the store(all the warranty and stuff)!
One of my friends just bought a middle range MB for Rs. 72,000 in Ahmbedabad from an IMAGINE store(Apple distributor)...he has gotten the regular warranty with it as well, and is quite happy with his decision!
If you can post/message me your location, i can ask the Imagine guy if they have any store's around your place!
