I'm hoping to get into a good technology university soon and want to major in something for finance or technology. Does Apple tend to pay employees well in its finance section at HQ? Any past employees have anything to say? I'm just curious and have a few minutes on my hand. Thanks.

I'm hoping to get into Stanford soon and want to major in something for finance or technology. Then I would like to get a job in Silicon Valley. Does Apple tend to pay employees well in its finance section at HQ? Any past employees have anything to say? I'm just curious and have a few minutes on my hand. It would be a magical experience if I ever got to work there! Thanks.

You must remember money isn't everything. Working for a high profile company isn't necessarily good.. they often work you harder. Sure the money may be better than average ( but in many cases, not ) but you don't have a life. Having a life and a job becomes more important as you age.. unless your a workaholic.

You seem to be getting rather ahead of yourself.

Haha I know! I was fixing my friend's Mac and he said, "Dude, why don't you work for Apple?" That's how I got this thought in my head.

Good point. Though if I have a job that I love to do, I think I will be a workaholic whether I notice it or not...

I know a few people at Apple (corporate) and they get paid very well. None are in finance to my knowledge judging by the degrees they have (and whats crazy is only ONE has told me what he does!) Apparently Apple is more hush hush than I thought.

if you're going in as an undergrad, you can expect mid 50s to 60 for a corp fin position depending on which position in which group. in terms of undergrad pay that's fairly standard across the corporate sector. the fun groups are usually in their FP&A (financial planning and analysis), treasury and operations/retail. think twice about doing compliance, audit, and revenue assurance related... those usually aren't too exciting.

my personal recommendation is that unless you're really tied to Apple as your career future, shoot for some type of finance related leadership development program in other F100 companies such as GE, Microsoft, AT&T etc. these LDPs are usually around 2 years, competitive in nature, offer broad exposure to corp fin, and really delivers a lot of experience in a short amount of time.

having a recognizable LDP program splashed on your resume will open a lot of doors later in your career... Apple's included.
