Does anyone know (or believe) that Apple purposefully throttles certain stock in their Refurbished Store during Christmas holiday shopping?

I’ve been looking for a certain item/confirmation that was plenty available prior to November 30 but whose availability fell off a cliff around 12/1.

Doubtful they intentionally reduce supply.

It's entirely possible that demand is higher, and that is what reduces the amount of available product...

I thought about that too, but the cliff drop has been sudden and has lasted for a week!

The one lesson I've learned with the refurb store is to buy what you need as soon as you see it available, as they might not be available again for a very long time.
I agree with @dwfaust that this is likely due to higher demand at this time of year.

^This^. And, like @Wando64 wisely pointed out, you need to grab it when you see it in the Refurb store (I've lost out before by waiting too long). Highly sought-after items have a VERY short window of availability.

Point taken and adopted!

The interesting thing is I’d been watching for weeks (maybe months) the continued availability of a certain thing. Then it’s fallen off a cliff for 7-8 days. So this caught me by surprise to maybe have reached the end of wide availability so abruptly.

I've had good luck shopping the Refurb Store at 4:00AM haha. I don't know if that works for you or not. Hang in there!

Is it possible? Of course.. Apple is a profit making enterprise. They can do whatever they (legally) can to extract as much money as possible from customers.

The stock has probably become "reduced" because people are buying the stuff.

I would guess that Apple restocks their refurbished store as soon as items become available with which to do so.

The company makes no money by withholding products from sale...
