I have that featured disabled for the past 2 years as I tend to manually update my apps by opening the App Store app, if I was to enable automatic app updates, will that use more battery on a day to day basis?
 
No, I think the update occur when plugged in and screen is off, at least for the most part.

Pretty sure they update when charging. I’ve never seen them update throughout the day.
