I've been waiting for Best Buy to start offering M4 Pro with 1Tb configs but so far no luck. I also was looking at M3s- the last generation nd I don't see those for sale either.

Does Best Buy just not offer upgraded models? 512 is not a lot of storage.

They do for the 14". For the 16", you have to go up to the M4 Max to get 1TB.
yeah I saw that. I guess my question is- is that permanent? i.e. fi you buy thru Best Buy 1tb is never an option? Do they have models in store at 1tb?

Just want to make sure I understand: So you don't want a 14" Pro and don't want a 16" Max?

Best Buy, Amazon, and most others just sell the base models. So if there is a base model on Apple.com with 1TB, Best Buy usually has it. They don't do BTO. So if you want a 16", you have the same 3 options at Best Buy that you have on Apple.com:

It is all probably a matter of how Apple is optimizing their mix early on. Best Buy will probably have more "popular" CTO variations as time goes on and Apple feels they have enough base models ready.

It's kind of a way to to divert sales to Apple- if you can't get a 1tb 16 inch model from resellers- you will just buy from apple,

In some ways, but Apple uses resellers for another reason that is valuable. They can offer sales on them without offering sales directly at Apple (which they almost never do outside of very specific ones like Back to School).
