I've read from 2 beta testers that Catalina fixes the issue with the HDMI port not recognizing monitors.
Brand new Mini connected with a DVI to HDMI cable and the Mini didn't recognize it. It only worked if I unplugged and plugged back in the cable from the HDMI port.
Apple knows about it, why haven't they released a fix on Mojave for it?

It is the same for my mac mini. It gets really annoying. My boot camp Windows 10 partition doesn't have the same issue.

The last 2 Catalina beta have been giving me hdmi output problem on the mac mini 2018. i have a LG 4K monitor connected via hdmi but whenever the mac mini is powered on, it will not detect the monitor and the monitor will go into sleep mode. i have to use an egpu connected via one of the thunderbolt ports to be able to use the mac mini.

I gave up and went with a DVI to USB-C cable and it works so I've given up on using the HDMI port

Has anyone found a fix for this? I'm now on Catalina official release and I can't get any HDMI cable to work to my second monitor through HDMI to HDMI. I'm using 2 LG 4k monitors that worked great with the same cabling on Mojave, but only my USB-C to HDMI cable is working.

My 2018 Mac Mini started not sending an HDMI signal to my Samsung TV monitor after I upgraded to Catalina. I have a USB-C to HDMI cable on order. Here's my current workaround:

if the Mac is booted and not sending a signal to the TV, I use Jump desktop to remotely log in and shut the Mac down from thaty desktop session. Starting the mac again activates the HDMI link and all is well.

I downgraded back to Mojave with a CCC clone, but the issue persisted. My current guess is that Catalina updated some Firmware on the Mac along with the OS, but that is just a guess.
