I can't find a way to set up a POP3 account on Catalina, and Google turns up nothing. Has anyone figured this out?

all of my accounts are pop accounts; can't you select 'other' (or whatever that option is when setting up), then input the pop settings from your email host?

It doesn't prompt for server settings like the old versions did, just asks for address and password, then logs in and sets up IMAP. (It's a gmail account, but I use POP3 for everything, in part because of issues like the Catalina data loss bug, in part for better offline access when connections are spotty, and in part because get off my lawn!)

Update: if you put in the wrong password, it lets you choose POP and name your server, but doesn't give you the option to set the port, SSL, etc. that gmail requires. Arrrgh!

OK, here's how you do it:

1) In your Google account enable access for "less secure apps"
2) Choose an "other" account in Mail.app
3) Enter an incorrect password, you'll get prompted for credentials and can switch to POP
