iPhone Does Cydia have something against Verizon?

I have a 4s on verizon, which gets about 1mbps at my home. I also have Verizon dsl rated at 3mbps but it bogs down to .70 Mbps at peak times.

When ever I try to down load something large like a theme on Cydia and I'm on wifi it downloads just fine at that really slow speed. If I try to download a theme on 3G which is faster that the dsl at that time it downloads at a crawl. It's so bad I can't download at all. Just small tweaks.

I don't see what the problem is. Does cydia have a limitation in data speed and sets the limit at how fast you can download with slow 3G?

I don't have fios in my area or I would have upgraded already.

Themes aren't hosted on cydia's server. They're hosted on a repo's server
 
I haven't had any issues downloading anything from Cydia, so I can't help you there. Is it ALL packages or just certain ones?

But I would like to add, be lucky you can even get dsl where you live lol I can't even get that. Only thing I can get is a Verizon broadband modem card that I was lucky enough to get "unlimited data" on when I bought it 6 years ago, but we all know how slow Verizon's 3G data is, especially when it's throttled.

It doesn't matter where I get it from its always slow. The issue is only with large packages.

I can download large files just fine on 3G with safari.

Only cydia causes me trouble.
 
Could be verizon throttling you. I don't download themes anymore so I think the largest package I have installed through Cydia is bitesms.

But back when I downloaded themes, it would download really fast for 10-15 mb and then be reaaaaally slow.

I spoke to verizon and I'm not being throttled.
 
Verizon lost a bet to Cydia and refuses to pay up, so until Verizon pays up you're screwed. I thought everyone knew this it was all over the forums around April 1st.
 
Yea there is a repo issue with Cydia + WiFi on newer jailbreaks for some reason, I have that issue and it's been posted quite a bit.
 
I'm having this problem again. I can have 3G speeds almost at 2mbps, but large cydia packages download so slowly. Right now my dsl is running at .70mbps and not having any issues downloading large packages. The progress bar actually moves when I'm on wifi with really slow dsl.

Maybe I should contact saurik about this?
 
sorry, OP, can't help ya. It's the opposite for me (like what Dwalls said). WiFi downloads are painfully slow yet HSPA+/LTE downloads scream for me (AT&T).
