I used the same Apple ID I use for my iTunes purchase to set up my iCloud account on my new iPhone. For personal reasons I've decided to use a separate iCloud ID for my phone than the Apple ID I use for iTunes purchases. But if I delete the iCloud account on my phone will it delete my Apple ID and I'll lose all my iTunes purchases? I've spent about $200 on iTunes videos and don't want to lose access to them!

your apple ID and itunes ID i believe can be two separate email addresses, entirely independent of eachother. some families that share an itunes ID to share purchases but use different apple ID's for imessage and stuff.

No. The prior poster is correct. You setup your iTunes Store Apple ID separate from the iCloud ID. See Settings / iTunes & Appl Store for you iTunes Purchases. See Settings / iCloud for your email etc. My wife and I have the same iTunes ID (for purchases) but separate iCloud email, contacts etc. This is the same logic used for the MAC App Store.

I may have phrased my question incorrectly. I already knew you can use a separate Apple ID for iCloud and for iTunes/App Store. What I was asking is if I ALREADY am using my iTunes ID as my iCloud ID, when I click "Delete Account" on the iPhone if it really does COMPLETELY delete the account. I have about 200 gigs of videos bought on my iTunes account and I was concerned that deleting the iCloud account on my phone would likewise completely delete that Apple ID completely and I would completely lose access to all these purchases. Because all I wanted to do was disassociate it from the device, not actually DELETE the account, you know?

Well, I crossed my fingers and prayed last night and tried anyway, and phew, I can confirm that it did NOT delete that Apple ID. It still exists and all my purchases are okay. This was what I was worried about. Sorry for phrasing my question poorly.
