I have been unable to find a solution and not able to independently verify this for myself.

I am on iOS 11.4 Beta 1. I was on iOS 11.3 Beta and became uncomfortable when iOS 11.3 was released without iMessages. I have all my messages from 2008 onwards but care mainly about those from 2016 on.

When I go to disable iMessages in iCloud Settings it says "Disable and Download." However, it does not appear that messages are downloading as no space is changing on my devices. It looks like all my messages are somewhat there, however.

I notice that messages from around 2015 and before sometimes do not have a date sent next to them, it is just blank. When I click on the message it loads but then when I click the back button, it goes away until I exit the Messages app. So, it appears the XML file calling the messages is working but something is wrong with the data.

Right now I have all my messages but what is concerning me is that I need to get my device replaced. I have an iTunes and iCloud backup, but I fear that once I restore I will somehow lose all my messages.

I do not want iMessages on iCloud enabled anymore until it is fully released. But I am not sure that the messages are actually downloading. And I do not know how to make them download manually. Does anyone have any insight?
