Profiles on Nokia (Feature phone, S60, S^3) worked more or less the same way. You could make different profiles for different things and choose what notifications you would get. You could even set timed profiles to activate/deactivate profiles automatically, like Apple.

Surely, Apple's implementation is more powerful now, but I am comparing with something ~15 years ago.

It’s kinda basically what it is and there’s been tons of people wanting something like this on iOS, and Apple listened.

100% in agreement. I recently played around with an old Nokia phone and admired how specific you could set up profiles for the exact individual situations.

Yes I've been wanting that for years. Strange that it took them years to do this.
