I understand I can drop files from my desktop to the iPad via wifi, but this requires me to be sitting at the desktop. What about the other way around- can I browse files on my desktop while on my iPad using good reader? If so, how? If not, does airsharing HD allow this?

I don't believe so. You can connect to your iPad server from Finder and browse the files that are located in Good Reader, but it doesn't seem to work in reverse.

If you want something that can do that (although with quirks), then you might want to try Here, File, File! Though that is currently for iPhone only, but it will run on the iPad in the iPhone simulator. Then you can email the files to yourself and open them in Good Reader.

What I don't understand is that all these developers keep saying that they can't access the iPad's email, but they can! None of my iPad apps can open the attachments in Mail, except for iWork apps, and I thought that Apple enabled this in the SDK? Like if I get a PDF, you just hold it, select open in Good Reader, and bam. I thought that developers could make aware to the OS that they can open a certain file type?

Apple enabled them in the iPhone 4.0 beta SDK. Sure, it works now, but only in iWork because iWork and the iPad OS is Apple's so they get more access to stuff than developers do (kinda like how the iPod application can run in the background ever since the iPhone came out and how developers are just getting the music in the background now). While developers can update their application now, they won't be able to submit it to the AppStore (it'd be pointless since no one except developers can use it).
