Does iCloud have iDisk functionality at all?

iCloud has document syncing across devices. I'm not exactly sure, but there should be a web interface for all iCloud services. This should be available when iCloud debuts in the fall. My guess is that files from iWork, iLife, etc will be automatically uploaded into the cloud. It seems that doc syncing will functionality similarly to iDisk. Nobody knows for sure right now, though.
P.S. Don't forget that developers have access to the iCloud API to integrate it into their apps. If Apple doesn't provide an iDisk-like feature in iCloud, a third party probably will.

I saw that but was wondering if the documents in the cloud maybe had a folder attached to it or something else that allowed file storage.
Unfortunately, there is no such folder. I really liked iDisk and I'm sad that we'll be losing it (not officially until June 2012). There's always DropBox or Box.net for internet storage, though.
I agree entirely. iDisk remains functional until next June and by then I am sure that someone will be providing a similar alternative. Business abhors a vacuum etc.
iOs 5 will debut in the next couple of months, leaving 8 or nine months for someone to work out (i) if there is a gap left by the loss of iDisk functionality and (ii) how best to fill this, ideally from within the OS itself.
Looking at the blogs online, there is a market for this - but that can't be determined until the rest of us (non-developers) get to use iCloud to determine whether and to what extent an alternative is wanted by enough people to make it worthwhile, or whether the gap is already filled by the likes of Dropbox etc.
Personally, I used iDisk a lot and had my entire work library on there and all my work backed up for the past few years, together with any admin. It paid off in spades when (at the time my only) laptop was stolen and a replacement synced to pre-theft state within an hour or so.
From what I gather, it doesn't seem like a big stretch for a developer to create an app for both OS X and iOS that utilizes iClouds storage for 3rd party apps to enable the user to regain most of the iDisk functionality. Instead of the most obvious function for this usage, such as a photo editor or text editor that syncs files in iCloud, just make an app that allows any file and acts like a file manager. Then, any device you can access docs in the cloud from, can access your files.
That would be fantastic. I'm impressed with Dropbox so far and it would be nice for Apple to integrate it into iCloud services.
Ah, I was wondering similar. I know iCloud syncs contacts, calendar, music, mail, etc. but what I'd really like is to be able to store documents in the cloud to access from anywhere, Dropbox style. I guess iCloud is free so we can't really complain, and there is always Dropbox. It would be nice to have that functionality though. One less program is always ideal!

Still hoping Apple will come around before June 2012 and create either a paid or free file storage option as it exists on iDisk. I do know all about Dropbox and other alternatives. I prefer the option within the Apple ecosystem. I assume if iCloud had this storage capability, then converting from iDisk to iCloud would be seamless. Wondering if others have heard anything encouraging on this front?
