iOS 14 is HUGE imo, and I love it, but is it running slower and less snappy than iPhone 11 Pro Max?

I feel like performance and stability have at least remained the same if not improved. I’m genuinely impressed with how well it is performing-especially considering it’s the first developer beta.

Most of my stuff is fine and dandy, when I record a video on any of the camera 4K 60fps it seems really juddery but when I watch video back it’s smooth as

Can you honestly let these new features go for stories about “less snappy” speeds? Even if the actual representative final version comes out? I don’t think I could.

Yes. I'm happy with my iPhone. I want the new features, but it wouldn't be worth a slow iPhone IMO

I mean...it's the first beta.

So? I know the final version is what matters but still

Every time a new iOS is released, you ask the same question. Since speed is important to you, along with working apps and no problems, stay away from iOS 14. If you install it, you will end up doing what you always do and downgrading.

Every decision shouldn’t need input from MacRumors.

Early betas will often have extra debugging logic/hooks, logging, etc, built into the system to collect in the event of bugs, bug reports, diagnostics, etc. These things can sometimes have an impact on performance, but are necessary for the early beta process.

The lesson is to not take the performance of an early-mid beta as an indicator what it will be like when it officially launches.

So are you saying I shouldn’t upgrade bc it makes it slow?

Feels the same to me. Not any slower and not any faster.

This is good news.

I’m tempted to try beta if this is the case

Beta 1 is snappier than my iPhone 11 Pro Max and 2018 iPad Pro running iOS 13.5. watchOS 7 is also running fine and quick as well.

That's awesome news. I was hoping that iOS 14 would be another iOS 12 (less new features, focus on stability + performance) so when they announced all of the new features while I was happy about them on the one hand, on the other hand I started to worry about bugginess and so on. But from what I'm hearing/reading so far it seems like iOS 14 is running quite well so far 👍
