I'm not even sure if Relay is the right term being used for setting up a second phone number through iOS for spam avoidance but does iOS offer something like that or is it only 3rd party apps? I vaguely remember seeing something like what I'm describing somewhere in my phone a while ago.

Thanks

Can get a second SIM/number and add it to the phone.

A call blocker to catch spam (I use ATT's since I'm with them and it's a really good one).

Google Voice app as mentioned above (I use it; anyone not family, friends, important [eg. doctor's office] gets that number). Permanently set to Do Not Disturb mode.

Bouncer app for text messages. Tried that out and liked it when political spam got out of hand during election season (and also got a bunch of spam due to Authy breach that occurred earlier in 2024).

Silence Unknown Callers to send them to voicemail if not in Contacts.

Using all this and patience (won't happen quickly), was able to get my spam down to almost zero for years now: maybe 2-3 a week, at most [Jan 2025 was quiet until yesterday, one call that never rang due to Silence Unknowns).

Same.

But wonder if some overlap (eg. back office, infrastructure) there with Google Fi, so might keep around as long as Fi is a thing? Or Google Fiber Phone overlap?
That and the fact that there are paid plans hopefully means it will stay.
