I may be wrong but it seems to lose brightness over time. Is this normal?
This can be true. Even though LED does not see the same decay as CCFL tubes, the display can still degrade. People that are extremely serious about color work recalibrate their displays every few months to adjust for the decay.I think all displays lose a bit of brightness over time.
No. That’s a defect.
I’m not so sure about that without any further details. Pretty sure my iPad displays lose some brightness over time, like most other displays.
When you say "over time" do you meanI may be wrong but it seems to lose brightness over time. Is this normal?
I love these kinds of threads. There's all of this subjective discussion going on with the occasional spattering of absolutes . . all without measurable specifics.
When the display "loses some brightness" it means a hardware failure. Whether it's Apple or any other manufacturer.
When you say "over time" do you mean
- It isn't as bright as it was back in 2017
- When you turn it on, it dims over a period of minutes/hours?
So this couldn’t be a case of normal wear?
The first one. Not as bright as when I got it. I think I got it around May 2018 and without Apple Care.

Could be but so soon! My Samsung Galaxy Note Pro tablet bought few years ago do not have these issues.
