I am not sure if one of the previous firmware updates addressed this or not, but when I first got my iPhone I noticed that if I put it in the cradle to charge through AC power over night and then powered off the device, the iPhone would not charge. As a result I have been leaving the phone on over night while it charges, but ideally would like to be able to turn the device off. Does anyone know whether you are able to charge the phone while it is powered off?

well the trick is putting it in the dock and then powering off. otherwise, if it is off and then placed in the dock it powers on as you noted. my question still remains as to whether they charge while powered off?
