I don't even have it installed yet and can tell you the answer to your question in the subject is categorically NO. Beta software versions (particularly early betas and particularly betas with massive redesigns) will always be slower than their release counterparts. That is expected.

Yeah, the question OP is asking is really ‘Can I use it as my daily driver?’ And the answer is no.

looks like they noticed poeple having problem with a back button with most of the apps so they decided to make it bigger and round and porbably the sketch from ui developers was just a fast drawn circle with no design at all just some shade and light. For some unknown reason someone at headquaters saw this one icon and decided to make the whole redesign around itl
Looks awfull really, is very hard to read, control center is unreadable for me, I have to think twice waht icon is waht. I forgot to make a backup (stupid me) bc I would restore it already. Looks like andtroid 2015 and I'm no joking

the animation seems more fluid but at the same time they stutter very often so yeah

Laggy mess, this whole glass UI looks horrible as well in my opinion.

laggy, but feels a bit better after some minutes.
The new visual thing with screenshots doesn't work with me for now. but I haven't looked at the release notes yet

Not at all. Stuttering and low FPS when swiping. Nothing too terrible for a beta 1, but noticeable, for sure.

Very laggy and stuttery. The glass look doesn't look very nice. I'm sure they tweaking and refining it over the next betas.

But for now: The new design looks very ugly.

My iPhone 15 Pro Max was super laggy for the first hour. Then it returned to the usual snappiness of iOS 18. The animation feels slightly slower overall, but it's on par with most first developer beta.

Do I think that it's a daily driver? So far, it's pretty decent and I have yet to encounter an app that doesn't work.

I took the YOLO plunge and installed the DB1 on my 16Pro Max and have been very pleasantly surprised. I haven't had any major issues at all with it. My apps are all working(I checked the Wiki List thats going in another thread first), and I'm enjoying the new OS. I will admit that it was very studdery/laggy for about an hour or so after the initial install. To the point I was starting to think I had made a mistake. But after it got all or a majority of its behind the scenes processing done its really turned out to be great. For whoever does decide to install this on your main device just do a encrypted backup to your Mac/PC before you install it just in case your experience is different and you have to go back to 18.5 that way you won't loose anything.
