Even buying new RAM can be troublesome, sometimes.

Buy "used" RAM, and one's chances of encountering trouble can ... increase.

In my experience, used RAM pricing is generally only slightly better than new bought from a good vendor (newegg, data memory systems, etc). You don't need to buy Apple-branded RAM.

I have bought used memory successfully, although not for a Mac.
