I have two ipads which i am constantly using but i also need a laptop to write my dissertation. I do have a windows laptop but i find it a pain to get my needed notes and files from the ipads to the laptop and back. I do love how the ipads cooperate with each other so i thought i could get a mac and match everything, ipads iphone and mac together for collaborating.

Can you please tell me if i can actually use an ipad as a drawing tablet for a mac? I read some reviews when the fewture first came out that it wasnt ideal..

And what about all my apps from the ipad? Are those usable on the macbook?

And do you know if the universal control works with two ipads? And what about handoff? Is file transfering great between a macbook and an ipad?

Thank you for reading this!

You can use an iPad to mirror the display of a Mac computer or set it up to act as a second monitor for the computer. As for transferring files, using Airdrop is super easy. No, you typically can't run iOS applications on a Mac unless they are designed that way. Mac applications tend to be better than their iOS equivalents anyway so that's not typically an issue.

thank you for answering! so does all this connectivity between the devices work as expected, no bugs or anything? i would only get a new airfor the easiness of it all, if that's the case

i'm ony finding reviews of when those features first came out, that's why i'm asking, are things now better or worse?

I've found that everything works as expected. If you use the Apple Pages wordprocessor it runs on both Mac and iPad. You also have the option of storing your files on iCloud so then you don't have to transfer them between devices and can work on them directly.

I think most people that are reporting problems with bluetooth or Wi-Fi are just having interference issues with other close by devices. I haven't had any issues with either.
