I was about to send in my MBP for repair for a bunch of reasons: the screen inverter noise, the problem with the right speaker when using iChat, the problem with airport connections being interrupted. I try to not worry about the processor whine, it might be an unavoidable artifact of energy saving and doesn't bother me too much. Now the problem is that neither of the two Apple tech support people admitted that they had heard of any of my three problems. I had thought from going over the forums that these are now acknowledged by Apple. How can I be sure that being without the computer for 3-7 days or so will be worth anything?

Anybody with experience out there? Which of the three problems, screen inverter noise, faulty right speaker, airport, actually got fixed when you sent yours in?

Thanks.

No one out there who has gotten their MBP back from repair?

Hi all, I'm just reposting so my question moved too much down the list. Has anybody sent in their MBP for repair of the screen inverter buzz, the airport problem, or the right speaker problem, and can report in what state he/she got it back?

Here and there!
Wait, the right speaker not making sound is a problem with the machine? I was under the impression that this occured to eliminate any possible feedback from the built-in microphone..?

No, the left speaker (by left I mean from the perspective of you looking at the screen) is the one that is off while your voice is recorded (for instance while doing iChat), because the built-in microphone is somewhere in the area of that left speaker. In my case (and I heard this being reported by others as well) the right speaker then has a static like humming whenever the person you're chatting with talks.

Both speakers work fine when listening to CD's, watching movies, etc. The problem only occurs when one speaker is off to avoid interference with the microphone, however then it is very annoying.

Do you also have the problem with the right speaker I'm describing?

Has Anybody Gotten Her/his Mbp Back From Repair?

Come on people, almost 100 views and nobody has experience with sent in MBP's? I asked above whether it makes sense to send them in, i.e. when it comes back are the screen inverter buzz, the airport problem, or the cracking right speaker fixed. Thanks for any replies.

Not a MBP but i sent my powerbook for repair and they replaced like everything on mine....When they send it out, they don't care cause they get re-embirsed from apple for parts/labor...so they will more then likely fix it if you have it sent out... or will try too....
When i sent my powerbook out it came back and the front was bent, i sent it back out cause i never had a bent/dent on my machine so they replaced like the whole casing except for the screen...

Thanks, that sounds promising. I'm wondering in particular about the MBP's though because apparently the issues I'm having with mine (described above) have not yet been acknowledged by Apple although everybody has the same problems.

Hi,

Of all the problems you have there is one that should be fixed: The screen inverter. Apple is replacing the faulty inverters, and with that replacement your CPU whine will also 'probably' be reduced by 2db.

I know it's a bummer to send in your machine... But once Apple aknowledges a problem - like with the inverter - you are best doing it.

Best regards
