does jailbreaking cause premature failure of the iphone??

I wasnt going to jailbreak my phone because I dont want to void the warranty if it ever froze. But, after 1 week the water sensor turned pink when I spilled a beer on my pants. I want to make sure that if I unlock my phone, it wont quit working sooner due to the unlock. I unlocked my 1st gen and after 3 days the touch screen quit working. I dont know if it was coincidence but I never wanted to try it again. Any know problems?

Anything that goes wrong with the phone can be fixed with DFU Mode and a restore in iTunes.

Software degradation doesn't harm hardware. And if it starts to run like crap, dfu and restore.

I'd be more worried by the byproduct of beer spillage.

Using the vibrate function in a way it was never intended to be used ??
