Hello there all. First off I would like to thank all of you very much for all
of your help over the past few months. This outlet for disscusion and questions would not be possible without all of your responses to questions and inquires.

I do not use Keynote quite yet. Before I buy a product I do a ton of research
on it first and make sure I know how to use and get the most out of it. I am a student at the Art Institute where I am always using Powerpoint to show my work and give presentations. However, I badly want to use Keynote. The problem that I see happening is that though I could create content via Keynote at home on my iMac, there would be no way to bring the project to school. Since I don't have a laptop to hook into the smart classrooms at school to show a Keynote presentation, the software would be nearly useless to me. Now these smart classrooms feature both a Wintel computer and newer G5 boxes in each room that hook up to a ceiling mounted projector. Powerpoint is installed on both of these machines so it has been a program that I am kinda shoved into using.
My question is this. Has anyone tried installing Keynote to their iPods so that
they could plug it into any Mac and run their presentation without exporting to
Powerpoint. If I had to export all the time, it wouldn't be worth it since the
transitions and general look aren't the same. I would very much like to install Keynote to my iPod and use it this way, since I cannot afford a laptop at this time. Now I realize that you can export to Quicktime, but I need to be interactive with my slides and the school does not have Quicktime Pro to play in full screen. I would rather not export to Quicktime. Also, you can't install any programs to the schools server.
Thank you in advanced for any advice or information folks. If this can't be done, then perhaps the rumors of the new Apple Digital Display Device will take care of this situation.

keynote is a cocoa app, so of course you can run it off an external drive. The only thing that'll prevent any app from running is the absence of OS X, and that's solved if you install OS X on the hard drive.

there might be some apps that might need to be installed on the boot drive or something, whatever it was, that doesnt include keynote, but those do exist. but basically all drag and drop stuff, and all the installers for apps that let you choose other disks can be run off of another HDD.

ok i thought that was an interesting question but i had never really thought about that before....so i decided to try it out....

what i did was i have Keynote installed on my powerbook g4 and i took the application from my apps folder and copied it to my ipod....and it copied without a problem.....
next i went over to my girlfriends powerbook and hooked up my ipod and used it in hard disk mode to access Keynote and sure enough it opened up and started up without a hitch....

i dont know if you can install Keynote directly to your ipod hard drive but this method works...for me at least... so i say go for it because i think Keynote has muuuuch better presentations than powerpoint..

good luck
