Does latest iTunes mess with older firmware?

Very simple question here: if you've got an unlocked iPhone with 1.1.1 firmware and have updated your iTunes to 7.5, will it force a firmware upgrade or otherwise mess things up when syncing?

I'm guessing not, but I just wanted a definitive answer.

No, it's fine - I have the latest iTunes, but am still on 1.1.1 on teh iPhone, and there's no issue with syncing. I just ignore the requests to update to 1.1.2.
