Does mac network keep its settings between sessions

I'm basically new to mac but have a mac mini on order. I want to know a few things about setting it up to the network before I get it.

Are the wifi network settings saved between sessions? I will try to explain. I plan to carry the mac mini with me to another place occasionally and connect it to the network there, but I generally will not have a monitor with me to connect it to. I will use my iPad and control the mac mini with a remote control such as Splashtop Remote or Remote HD or something like that. I know I will need a monitor the first time I set it up so I can enter a password, etc since the iPad will not see it until it is connected to the network.

I am wondering, though, when I take the mac mini away from the network and return a week later will it remember my network settings for that network, including my password so that I will not need to use a monitor to enter my password again and my iPad will automatically see it? In the meantime I will be using it on my home network. I know my iPad and iPhone keep multiple network settings so was wondering if the mac mini would be the same.

Another unrelated quick question ... Will I be able to easily connect to my Windows 7 on my home network so that both my mac and windows computers read each other?

Yes, you can leave the "Location" setting ("Apple" menu, "Change Location" to "automatic"), and it will search for known WiFi access points.

One caveat, though, is that it sometimes seems to "forget" the password (this happens to me at my home location. I don't use "automatic", I either use a "wired" or "home" profile) but "automatic" doesn't seem to have anything to do with it.

Bottom line is, you MAY occasionally have to re-enter the password.

Then it may be best to have a cheap monitor at my second site permanently and forget about my iPad and carry a wireless keyboard & trackpad with me. Does the mac mini connect well to a vga monitor (I have a couple old ones sitting around)? I have used a usb graphics card to connect my computer to the tv as a second monitor. The graphics card is hdmi with an dvi adapter. I believe I have also used a dvi to vga adapter successfully on it. Will that type of configuration work to connect the mac mini to vga? I believe the mac mini also has a mini dvi port? If so would a dvi to vga adapter work with it?
