Does mac pro take 15k HD?

If it's a standard 3.5" SATA sized drive then yes. If it's 2.5" or uses a different interface technology then no.

Sure, it would, if there was any in a SATA format. As far as I know, the 10k RPM WD Raptor is fastest SATA available. I may be mistaken though.

im not sure but i thought 10k was the limit.
i'd be happy to try if some one bought me a mac pro and a 15k drive...

Not exactly:
Drive manufacturers build drives in a number of formats: IDE, SATA, SCSI (of which there are many flavors)

No drive manufacturer has produced a 15K RPM SATA or IDE drive.

However There are (and have been for years) 10K and 15K drives with SCSI-2 and UltraSCSI interfaces (Seagate Cheetah is the primary example, the 10K Western Digital Raptor is simply a SATA adaptation of their 10K SCSI drive). These are made specifically for file servers and storage arrays. SCSI has some advantages over IDE and SATA in management of command and data flow, especially in a multi-drive multi-user server system. (http://www.storagereview.com)

So you could put one of these drives into a MacPro if you could find an appropriate PCI-e SCSI interface card for the MacPro (Cards exist, from Adaptec and Atto and Initio and others however I havent searched to see if they are Mac compatible.)
