Does Macbook Pro Retina 2012 Support 2560 x 1440 at 60hz

Wanting to purchase a monitor that has the resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 60Hz for an external monitor.

I have a Macbook Pro Retina (Mid 2012)

Running OS X El Captan 10.11.14

As dumb as this sounds. 1440 is less than 1600, so therefore it would support it, correct?

That's a valid question. I'm not really sure. You can try going to System Preferences > Displays, press option while clicking on Scaled to see if it exists.
