I was really excited to get MobileMe after the WWDC. Apple made it look so seamless and clean, but from what I've heard now, it looks like Apple's really butchered it this time. Has anyone gotten MobileMe to work as advertised?

Actually I have :) It took some time to make sure that I had all the setting correct and I was a previous .Mac member (not sure if that made a difference: switching vs. setting up new)

Only System Preferences Updated

I'm suprised that the update Apple released to change .Mac to Mobile Me in System Preferences doesn't change it anywhere else. iWeb still says .Mac. So does iPhoto, iMovie and every other application that used to work with .Mac. And in iPhoto, it still gives you the option to upload photos to .Mac slides, which doesn't even exist anymore.

Fact is: it's all across the board right now. Some people it works, others it doesn't. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Way flakey right now.

Does not work as advertised - not even close.

Calendars only SOMETIMES push from iCal to MM or from MM to iCal. iPhone too is flakey with this.

The only thing that really works is push e-mail.

I think eventually (soon) they will come out with updates to correct that.

And THAT doesn't even work... well, sometimes.

I'd like to see a PC/Mac commercial about MobileMe and the 3G iPhone now instead of a bash-Vista commercial. ;)

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Hi! I'm MobileMe. I lied to you about what my service really does. And the functions that I'm suppose to provide don't work. I suck a s s.

Works Here

Works fine here in Memphis.....once the updates came thru.

I like it. Even if the cloud only updates every 15 minutes.
Mail is pushed right a way to my iPhone which i like.

Mobile? Not me

I'm a bit disappointed that MobileMe doesn't appear to update in anything like a reasonable time frame. I'm still waiting for changes made Sunday to appear (now Tuesday).
I can access all the constituent parts fine, but the bit I want is rubbish.
I want .Mac back! MobileMe is a crap name, it sounds like the Vista version of .Mac.
Apple are cheapening the brand. Every fool and their monarch had an iPod, now every fool and the world want an iPhone.
Where will it all end?

Kill it...

MobileMe works fine for me and is getting better all the time...

This is a 2-year old thread - kill it

It's true Mobileme is a pretty crappy service. It does not work half the time its supposed to. The main reason I'm keeping mine, is because of iWeb and photo downloading...adn well despite Apple sucking with this system, I'm to bias to not continue paying for it...

What a raised from the dead thread!

What problem do people have with mobile me? I think it is just splendid. The way it works with iWeb is one of the most "it just works" things I have experienced with my mac so far.

I have used the net for years and computers for considerably longer but have never made a web site, I rather fancied the idea of making a blog. So I used iWeb to create one (which was unbelievably easy, just like a WP program) and then with a single click my site was online!

The site did have an unwieldy name though-

http://web.me.com/doktordoris/Site/blog/blog.html

So I went to godaddy and bought the domain-

dorisnet.com

Then mobile me, yet again, demonstrated how brilliant it was by making the process of using my own domain name fairly simple once I followed instructions, not idiot-proof by any means but simple enough. The most difficult bit was using godaddy's user preferences, the mac bit was simplicity itself.

So I's be interested to learn what it is about mobile me that people dislike, other than the price.

Here it is 2011 and Mobile Me still doesn't sync calendar events via the cloud to my iPhone 4. It will sync the info to iCal but not my iPhone. Come on Apple what's the deal here? I paid for a service that doesn't work, fix this already! If not I won't be renewing my Mobile Me account.

For me it works great. I use it for email of course. I love the ability to create aliases so that when I start getting junk mail. I can delete the alias and create a new one.

Wit contacts, I can be sure that if I add one on one of my devices, a minute later it is added to the rest. If I delete one, same result. I know Google syncs contacts but it is in a slightly different manner than MobileMe does and I don't like it.

I let my original MobileMe account expire back in September and I love the fact that I was just now able to reactivate that account. Sure everything was gone and it was in a sense, a new account again but I get my .mac address back. Yes, I have double checked, it is still listed as working in MobileMe.

I 've never noticed calendar events that I enter on my phone not being synced back to my other devices as the previous person mentioned above. I'll have to pay attention and see if that is a problem. It hasn't been to this point and I got MM the day ot became MM.

I use mobile me for one simple reason. The .mac email address that I've had for years. The other products that come with mobile me are icing on the cake at this point. I've been quite underwhelmed by the offering.

I hope apple gets its act together but to be honest I'm not so sure.

I read somewhere that apple is really good at providing single user type products and they fail miserably on group/social type products. Just look at ping, mobile me, face time as examples where they have a product that is more encompassing then a single user type device/product and its not taken off. to that end, I'm not entirely sold that they'll get mobileme right anytime soon.

I fixed my issue, now everything works great. In the Mail, Contacts, Calendars setting under Calendars I had Sync set to "Events 1 Month Back". Once I changed it to "All Events", all my events showed back up. Thanks to Jennifer at Apple chat support for the help!

MobileMe works perfectly for me (and others), MM doesn't work for some (many)...

MobileMe is very complexed to setup for the average user with multiple devices as there are to many settings to get right on each device... The more devices, the worse it gets... This is what is wrong with the MM services... IMHO

I sync 3-Mac's, 2-iPhone's (me and my wife), and an iPad. Add to that an apple TV... I run my business using iCal with an additional 14 iPhones to schedule work. It all works but it wasn't easy...

Here is what I am hopeful about:
  • Steve Jobs was embarassed about MM and promised to make it right
  • The data center
  • When iCal went to Apple's servers it got 1000 x's better instantly (almost perfect for me). It also proved concept.
  • MobileMe has slowly but steadily improved... We haven't seen anything yet...
  • Apple REALLY NEEDS to get this right to tie a nice bow around all of the best devices in the world together...
  • Google and Microsoft are better at this but don't have the hardware to work with...

All of this data has got to be in the cloud to work well and sync to all devices. Trying to do it locally will never work... period...

Be patient. Change is coming to MobileMe in a theater near you...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

I agree with queshy: email works great.
The rest is sometimes ok an sometimes more like MobileVista.
I hope that iCloud to completely supress MM.
Fortunate I still have my DotMac account.

Apparently you didn't see my post right above yours, where I stated I fixed my issue.
