Does my new Macbook M1 Pro 14 have a defective screen?

Hey guys! I've recently switched from my old 2015 MBP 13 to the new MBP 14 M1 Pro and I now have a really strange problem with my recently purchased 2021 MBP 14 screen. If I scroll the black text on a white background it turns green while scrolling. It makes the browsing experience or working with documents awful. It is especially noticeable in Pages or in Safari when you browse through reddit comments or google search results. But the funny part is that it happens if the True Tone is off or the True Tone is on but there's daylight in the room. If you turn on True Tone and close the curtains, turn on interior lights or just cover the True Tone sensor then the screen becomes more yellowish and the problem with text scrolling disappears. And what's also strange is when I enter the recovery mode and open websites there I don't see this problem so it looks more of a software problem to me.

I've made a couple of videos trying to capture the problem but in reality the green colour is much more noticeable and annoying.

I also see the green trails for black objects on white background but I assume this is normal since I've read that the response time is very high for this screen. For example when you swipe from one white background desktop to another the black vertical divider leaves thew green trail. Could someone confirm this because at this point I'm becoming paranoid about this?

I can't see the problem you describe when looking at your clips on an iPad 12.9 5th gen, or iPhone 12 Pro Max.

EDIT...or on my M1 MBA, or LG Ultrafine 23.7.

Is there a local Apple store where you can go and compare your laptop with one on display? I think that would confirm any issues with the screen.

When shipping millions of products, there’s bound to be some defects that warrant a replacement.

Those videos look like they are filmed from an iPhone. Do you see the problem when played back on your iPhone?

What about making a video screen capture instead of filming.

Fair comment. I would have thought filming would have shown the problem since it is seeing what the eye sees. Very odd.

you can test wether turning True Tone helps:

1. Go to the  Apple menu and choose “System Preferences”
2. Go to the “Displays” preference panel and choose the “Display” tab
3. Uncheck the box next to “True Tone” to disable True Tone on the Mac
4.

Okay, I can see it on the big black part, but not on the text.

But! Send it back and get a replacement. It's well within your rights. If the next machine has the same issue, you'll know that's just how it is.
