Does My Photo Stream still automatically upload new photos and download them to Mac hard drive in iOS 12?

I've always used My Photo Stream to automatically upload new pictures from my iPhone and have them download to the Photos app on my iMac due to the large size of my photo library I always preferred this over iCloud Photo Library.

After updating to iOS 12 on my iPhone X, I saw that the description for My Photo Stream had changed significantly in the settings app.

iOS 11 - 'Automatically upload new photos and send them to all your iCloud devices when connected to Wi-Fi'

iOS 12 - 'Upload your last 30 days of new photos and view them on your other devices using My Photo Stream. Photos from other devices can be viewed in the My Photo Stream album, but are not automatically saved to your library'
